With iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models, Apple introduced Emergency SOS via satellite that can help you connect with emergency services under exceptional circumstances when you are out of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.
This highly sought-after feature has gained a lot of attention in recent months, as it turned out to be a lifesaver in remote areas without cellular service.
Android 14 To Get Apple-Like Satellite-Based SOS Feature
Now, according to a tweet published by the Pixel #TeamPixel Twitter account (via wccftech), the ecosystem will get a Satellite-based Emergency SOS feature with Android 14, which will gradually roll out to compatible Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones.

It is important to note that the Pixel #TeamPixel Twitter account is not an official Google account; hence, the information is not official.
Also, another point to note is that only some devices running on Android 14 would be able to support the Satellite-based Emergency SOS feature, as it would depend on the hardware capabilities of each phone and implementation by the manufacturer. This would mean the feature may likely be available on high-end devices with the necessary hardware.
Currently, there is no official release date announced for Android 14. Google has only mentioned that it is coming during the Fall season, which may likely be in August or September of this year. We expect to hear more confirmed information about the new features as we emerge closer to the official release date.
For the uninitiated, Apple’s Emergency SOS works in an area without a cellular signal to connect to an orbiting satellite to report the situation with the Apple Replay Center, which then later informs the pre-set emergency services provider to offer help to the one in danger.
Similar Emergency SOS support has been provided by Huawei, starting with last year’s Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and then P60 Series. In case of an emergency, the user needs to press the Power button five times in quick succession, and their device will automatically send a message with their current location to their emergency contacts.
