Elon Musk-owned Twitter on Monday was officially rebranded to “X” around the world. The original and iconic blue bird logo has been replaced with a white stylized “X” on a black-themed background.
Twitter Rebrands To X, Replaces The Iconic Bird Logo
Musk has confirmed that typing the domain ‘X.com’ will redirect the user to “twitter.com,” but it may become the official domain in the future. The new logo “X” can now be seen on the top left of the Twitter homepage.
The move to rebrand Twitter is a step towards Musk’s dream to transform the social media network into an “everything app”, similar to China’s WeChat, a highly popular instant messaging, social media, and mobile payment app.
In October 2022, when Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion, the company’s official legal entity name was registered as X Corp. Back then, he had said that buying Twitter was an accelerant to creating X, the Everything app.
On Sunday, Musk changed his profile picture to the new logo and added to his bio “X.com.” He tweeted that the idea of changing the logo to “X” was to “embody the imperfections in us all that make us unique.”
He added, “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds. If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow.
In a tweet on Monday morning, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino unveiled the new Twitter logo via a post and wrote, “X is here! Let’s do this.” In another tweet, she wrote, “Lights. Camera. X!” along with an image of the new “X” logo placed on the side of Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco.

Yaccarino suggested that X would be powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and would offer users unlimited interactivity. The emphasis of Twitter will be to expand beyond text-based content to include audio, video, messaging, and payments/banking. The platform also aims to create a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities.
She also added that this transformation is a ‘second chance’ for Twitter to make another big impression, and this is just the beginning. According to her, there are no limits to what ‘X’ can achieve and deliver.
“X will be the platform that can deliver, well….everything. @elonmusk and I are looking forward to working with our teams and every single one of our partners to bring X to the world,” Yaccarino said.
The iconic blue bird has been a part of the Twitter brand since its launch in 2006. With the rebranding done to “X,” it’s time to bid final goodbye to the original logo after being around for 17 years.
