WhatsApp for Windows 11 is finally getting the screen-sharing functionality, a feature already available on its mobile counterpart.
WhatsApp For Windows 11 Gets A Screen-Sharing Feature
According to a report by Windows Latest, the beta UWP (Universal Windows Platform) version of WhatsApp for Windows 11 has received a new update, which allows users to activate screen sharing directly from their desktop for the first time.
In order to share your screen during a video call, you need to click on the “share” option. The screen can be easily shared by selecting the window of the app you wish to share the screen with.
Alternatively, you can full-screen with all apps, taskbar, desktop, and everything. You can also continue sharing the screen by turning off the video and audio in the call.
Currently, the WhatsApp update is being rolled out to select users by Meta on Windows 11, and it may not be available to everyone. If you wish to try out this new feature, you can use the WhatsApp beta version to check out the functionality.
Besides the screen-sharing functionality, Meta-owned WhatsApp is also reportedly planning to work on a full-fledged app for Windows that allows anyone to sign in to the Windows app without scanning the QR.
In this case, instead of using a QR code, users will be able to log in to WhatsApp desktop using OTP (one-time password) sent to the registered number.
For those unaware, the WhatsApp UWP version, called WhatsApp Beta, was released in late 2021. The UWP version, unlike the desktop version of WhatsApp or WhatsApp web, is a WinUI-based app that uses the XAML language. It also comes with multi-device support (up to 4).
